First Days Impressions
Monday and Tuesday were my first days as CEO for One Month of Adecco Portugal. On Monday I learnt a big picture overview about Adecco Portugal and group operations given by the CEO herself and spent the rest of the day with the HR Director and team. On Tuesday was time to get a more close view about what each Director does and visited a potential client.
On my way to Adecco Portugal I found one girl from the HR team which resulted in a coffe before the big day (picture 2). A good way to start.
I received a plan for the month with all days scheduled (that can always change because of the CEO and Directors busy schedules) and it looks super intense with every day being different from the previous. No day will be the same. In the morning was time to visit the headquarters and to get to know most of the collaborators working here: so many names and faces hard to memorize in the first day (even for someone with a good memory!). Then I had a one hour meeting with the CEO – Carla Rebelo. With this, a complete overview about the group and Adecco Portugal strategy was given to me: the structure of the board, what each department and director does, the main competitors of Adecco in Portugal and the goals for the future. It was a short well-informed hour that helped a lot to get the big picture. After an amazing lunch with some of the collaboratos and the CEO for One Month of Adecco Portugal of last year (picture 1) the afternoon started with shadowing the job of the HR Director: assisted to the HR team weekly meeting and was able to build an action plan to recruit new collaborators for Adecco Portugal.
My second day was even more intense! In the morning, next to the CEO of Adecco Portugal, I was part of the weekly meetings with each Director. We had 3 meetings in which I got to know more specifically what each one of them is working on and what the next steps and action plans for the near future. The way that CEO brings the best of each one of the Directors in a very authentic way impresses anyone. Then, we assisted to a presentation from an IT Manager from Spring Professionals with an action plan for the next months. In the afternoon we went to visit a potential client (me, the CEO and the respective KAM – Key Account Manager), which allowed me to see how we present ourselves to other clients. Seeing from the client’s perspective like we dress their own skin, being active listeners, understanding that each client is different which requires a personalized service to assess client needs were three important factors to build trust. Very important as well is to make sure that a possible client shares similar values with our company such as work safety and human rights. We also had the opportunity to talk about the #CEO1MONTH program with the potential client which they find it interesting and took some notes about it. Maybe by spreading the word, more companies will start to do similar projects!
What a way to start a month, right? The perfect on-boarding process I dare to say. Let's go!
